This Mother’s Day we are celebrating the life of Guadalupe Musalem Merhy, she is the symbolic mother for all of the young women who have been helped by El Fondo Guadalupe Musalem . In the last twenty years, El Fondo Guadalupe Musalem has supported academic fellowships for 135 young women, all come from rural communities from the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. The money donated to this organization, helps support workshops, medical and psychological care, college guidance, that is not all each young women is assigned a mentor to help with her personal growth and development. Guadalupe was one of the founder members of GESMUJER (www.gesmujer.com) a group that in the last four decades has worked for women’s right and cultural diversity.
